2009 Box Lacrosse League Rules

All rule modifications contained within Central Iowa Lacrosse Association Open Box Lacrosse League 2009 Modifications to Standard Rules of Play for Box Lacrosse supersede the rules laid out in the standard box lacrosse rules used by the Open Box Lacrosse League (herein referred to as “the league”).  All rules are subject to change without notice.  It is the teams’/players’ responsibility to know and understand all rules, including, but not limited to current and new rules posted herein, before play begins.  During play the referee has the final say on interpretation of any and all rules of the league, if such needs arise.  Every effort will be made to notify team captains of any changes to the rules of play.
Some minor rule changes/updates following the first game.  This will updated on the official rules soon:
1.  Periods will be 15 minutes of running time.  16 minutes cut our time a little too close and that extra minute seemed to help guys not die.  Also, each team can call a 30 second timeout each period as needed.
2.  If the ball goes into the soccer net, it will be awarded to the goalie.  If the ball goes out of bounds anywhere else during the normal run of play (ie you can't chuck it at the bench), alternate possession will be awarded.

2009 Special Rule Modifications

In order to get the indoor game moving in Des Moines, we had to make some special changes for the league's inaugural year.  Everything listed here will be the top rules for our league.

The basis for the game.  The 2009 Modifications to Standard Rules of Play for Box Lacrosse supersede all applicable rules in this document.  For everything else, this is the law of the game.

 Officials are Needed!!!!

With the official rules in place, the league will need at least one referee per game, to maintain order and ensure fair play.  The league will also need a scorekeeper to run the clock/scoreboard for each game.

Players are preferred to ref, but friends and family can run the scoreboard.  Adam can ref the game(s) he is not playing in if needed, but he will still need some one on the scoreboard. Contact Adam if you are willing to help out and/or can get a scoreboard operator.
