High School Lacrosse Information
Currently boys' lacrosse is not a state sanctioned sport in Iowa. That is not surprising since we currently only have a couple of teams. Valley is the only high school lacrosse team currently playing in central Iowa.
Our hope is that by increasing awareness of lacrosse at multiple levels in the Des Moines metro area, high school particiaption will increase. Hopefully willing coaches will also step forward as the sport grows. Right now we are focused on teaching new players at the high school and adult level in order to facilitate this growth.
By 2015, we would like to be able to have a sustainable central Iowa based high school lacrosse league up and running. To do so, we will need at least six teams initially. Part of this ambition is splitting the current Valley players by their respective schools. Other districts in the metro with promising demographics for immediate growth are: Dowling Catholic, Ankeny, Johnston, Ames, Urbandale, and Southeast Polk.
We also encourage and support the growth of lax throughout the metro and state. There are currently experienced former players/potential coaches in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City, Waterloo, Quad Cities, and Dubuque metro areas. Contact your nearby colleges and universities for more information. Or
contact us and we can try to get you in touch with the appropriate people.
If you are interested in playing or coaching lacrosse, please complete the
appropriate form(s) and
contact us. High school students should also speak to their school's athletic director. The AD may provide much needed assistance in forming a lacrosse club.
If you are in another area of the state, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us; we are more than happy to lend whatever assistance we can!
